My name is Luis Reginaldo Medilo and I am from the beautiful island of Bohol in the Philippines. LuisMedilo.com is my personal blog where I will discuss my favorite topics such as business, entrepreneurship, blogging, making money online and motivational stories.
From time to time, I will also discuss topics that are helpful, interesting and relevant to my fellow Filipinos such as how to register a business, file taxes or apply for a passport. So if you are not a Filipino, please bear with me. Don’t worry because most of my posts will be relevant to readers of all nationalities.
A Little Bit About My Background
I’m a 30-something writer, web designer, digital marketing specialist, and entrepreneur. I own a small web design and IT firm named Cyberpixel Digital and IT Solutions which I started in August 2015. I also run and manage Taboda.com, a growing classified ads website.
My first experience with the Internet was in 1998 when my teacher instructed me to do some research for a science fair contest. Internet access was very expensive back then but because we’re friends with the principal, I didn’t pay for anything.
From then on, I was hooked and became addicted to the Internet. After I entered college, surfing the Internet became my favorite pastime. Most of my school allowance went to the Internet shops around school.
I became aware of the vast potentials of the Internet so I dreamed of becoming rich from it. I dreamed of following in the footsteps of Yahoo and Amazon. So I started learning about web design through self-study.
It helped that we had a computer at home, although it didn’t have Internet access because we can’t afford to have it installed. I just copied files from the Internet shop to a diskette.
I was so addicted to computers and the Internet that I accumulated many absences. I became notorious among my classmates as a serial absentee.
At first, I took up computer engineering but then shifted to computer science, then to electronics engineering. I was in my fourth year of engineering when I got tired of studying and dropped out of college altogether.
As a college dropout, job opportunities were few and far between. After a year of being a freelance writer, I managed to get hired for a low-pay temporary position at the city government. I worked there for a year and half until I quit after becoming attracted to the promises of wealth in Internet marketing.
Unfortunately, I didn’t manage to get rich from Internet marketing but I learned a lot of things. I learned how to design websites for myself and a few clients. I was also able to save enough money to start a small IT business.
Now here I am, still pursuing my dreams of wealth. I will never give up on my ambition of becoming rich. Hopefully, I can grow my business to a multimillion-dollar company and expand into other ventures. Meanwhile I will be using this blog as my platform to express my opinions, help other people and open the window to opportunities in the future.
Why This Blog?
I’m sure that there are a gazillion blogs that discuss the same topics as mine, but that will not stop me from starting my own blog. Google was not first search engine nor was Facebook the first social networking website. I’m not saying that this blog would become the Google or Facebook of blogs, but I think that you don’t have to be among the pioneers in a field to succeed in it.
Many blogs may talk about the same topics as mine but I will try my best to offer a different and unique viewpoint based on my own personality and writing style. I will also impart my knowledge about topics that I spent years studying and learning, such as online marketing and blogging.
I chose my own name as the title of this blog because I want to make my own personal brand, and this blog is that platform to launch my brand. Although it’s not as memorable as those using generic terms, I really don’t care, as long as I have the platform to express my opinions and share my knowledge to the world. The disadvantage is that I wouldn’t be able to sell this blog if it becomes a moneymaking machine, but I have no plan to sell in the first place. This blog lives with me and dies without me.
